Abstract
KOTTOW, Miguel. THE TEACHING OF A PROXIMAL BIOETHICS. rev.latinoam.bioet. [online]. 2015, vol.15, n.2, pp.26-41. ISSN 1657-4702.
Teaching bioethics loses touch with social reality in which are practiced from its field (medicine, biomedical research, public health). Its practical reflection becomes simplified on principles, dogmas, and even decisional algorithms. The original discourse about the moral purification of the clinical encounter, the patient-physician relationship, and tester -researcher led by decisions, lose relevance since these practices have been distorted by the impersonal biomedical effect. On the other hand, bioethics has embarked on the current global discourse, where good intentions and humanitarian views collide with the ongoing Realpolitik that increases inequality, environmental degradation, and civil insecurity. Ethics has to regain its proximal approach, mediating between the theory and the practices with a discourse to the real problems and enough severity to have a hand in its social background.
Keywords : Autonomy; global ethics; impersonal medicine; proximal bioethics.
