The purpose of the article is to describe from a university point of view, the experience in the application of Self Care Deficit Theory (SCDT) with adults and the aged. The processes and results are explained, from teachers preparation, organization of the subject, to the development of practice experience at the hospital and at daily life. The experience shows the application of the SCDT to give care to that population and the necessity to develop other studies.
