Abstract
ARGOTE O., Luz Ángela et al. Transitando la adolescente por el puerperio: Amenazas, peligros y acciones de protección durante la dieta. Aquichan [online]. 2004, vol.4, n.1, pp.18-29. ISSN 1657-5997.
Understanding adolescent mothers' habits, values and myths regarding the DIET, a term used by them to talk about the postpartum in Colombia, allows providers to offer a culturally congruent health care to this group. To understand their self care belief and practices, 16 adolescent mothers were interviewed in two main cities using the miniethnography methodology. The adolescent' beliefs and practices are quite different to the ones promoted by the biomedical model regarding procreation. Maintaining hot-cold balance within the body and between the body and the environment is an common aspect of the adolescents' practices. Discovering the culture allows the nurses to renovate their professional practice promoting care sensibility.
