Abstract

GONZALEZ-HERNANDEZ, Oscar Javier. Validity and Reliability of "Perception of Behavior Related to Humanized Nursing Care (PCHE), 3rd Version". Aquichan [online]. 2015, vol.15, n.3, pp.381-392. ISSN 1657-5997.  https://doi.org/10.5294/aqui.2015.15.3.6.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the validity and reliability of the third version of "Perception of Behavior Related to Humanized Nursing Care" (PCHE: Spanish acronym). Method: This is a descriptive methodological study that included psychometric texts of the PCHE as an instrument to evaluate the characteristics of nursing care provided in hospital settings. The instrument was reviewed with the participation of 320 hospitalized patients, and validity and reliability were measured through an assessment of internal consistency. Results: An agreement index of 0.92 and a content validity index of 0.98 were obtained by the group of experts. In the factor analysis, 0.956 was obtained for the KMO index and 0.0 on Bartlett's sphericity test. These indicators made it possible to calculate the factor loadings and, therefore, to determine statistically the construct of the instrument, which led to defining three dimensions hypothetically: qualities of nursing, openness to nurse-patient communication, and willingness to provide care. Conclusions: The third version of "Perception of Behavior Related to Humanized Nursing Care" is a valid and reliable instrument for use in hospital settings.
