Abstract
ANDRADE ALVES, Kisna Yasmin; PEREIRA SANTOS, Viviane Euzébia and NUNES DANTAS, Cilene. An Analysis of the Concept of Patient Safety: Rodger's Evolutionary Vision. Aquichan [online]. 2015, vol.15, n.4, pp.521-528. ISSN 1657-5997. https://doi.org/10.5294/aqui.2015.15.4.7.
Objective: Analyze developments in the concept of patient safety used in scientific endeavors, pursuant to Rodger's evolutionary vision. Method: A conceptual analysis of Rodger's transformative view on the notion of patient safety is offered, based on a reflective-critical-inductive reading of eight scientific works: four doctoral dissertations and four master's theses. Results: The findings are grouped into three thematic pillars: 1) background and consequences; 2) substitute terms and related concepts; 3) attributes and concepts. Conclusions: The study encourages reflection on the topic, provides a conceptual basis for studies on patient safety, regardless of the methodology, strengthens the culture of patient safety, and discourages punitive responses to individual errors.
