Abstract
AGUILAR SANTAMARIA, Pedro Alejandro. Un modelo de clasificación de inventarios para incrementar el nivel de servicio al cliente y la rentabilidad de la empresa. Pensam. gest. [online]. 2012, n.32, pp.142-164. ISSN 1657-6276.
Market pressures and the short life cycle of products make companies to continually evaluate whether their production processes respond to these situations. According to the evolution of markets there is an evolution of production models. Hayes (Hayes & Wheelwright, 1984) propose a model for the selection of production processes, evaluating the performance of two variables: production volume and variety of products. It is necessary to consider other factors to select a production model. Changes in demand affect strategic planning, decoupled inventories, low level of customer service, among others. From the analysis of this situation with reference to inventory management, we propose a method for selecting the most appropriate production model, which allows the business to keep growing profitability at all times, from the perspective of inventories, ensuring that the level of service offered to customers is fulfilled
