Abstract

This paper explores the relationships between the characteristics of the entrepreneur's profile, the management service practices and the impact of these factors on firm survival, as an indicator of success. Nine cases of native successful entrepreneurs of Eastern Antioquia (Colombia) were analyzed using structured interview technique. The results suggest that some features of the entrepreneur's profile and pivotal attributes of the service quality are common to the studied cases. Finally, a causal model structured it is proposed for establish what are the characteristics of the entrepreneur that can affect their attributes of service quality, and also, which kind of attributes can affect the survival. A further work would be to establish if there are cultural aspects of the origin region that affect their management practices, in turn, that could be decisive for the survival and growth of the firms.
