Abstract

MUNOZ VELASCO, Luis Alfredo; GOMEZ SEGURA, Camilo Fabiam  and  ANTIA, Jose Fredy. Results of a cross-sectional model of explanatory variables to establish a relationship of criminality and corruption in economic growth for the department of Huila. Pensam. gest. [online]. 2017, n.42, pp.73-101. ISSN 1657-6276.  https://doi.org/10.14482/pege.42.10458.

This study seeks to establish the relationship between significant variables such as crime, corruption, poverty, and education, among others, in the economic growth of Huila, Colombia. Consequently, the study was structured based on statistical evidence and the theoretical framework proposed and following input from exponents as Becker (1968); Ehrlich (1999); Del Monte and Papagni (2001); Fajnzlber, Lederman, and Loayza (2002), who set forth theoretically the causation of crime and corruption on economic growth. However, due to difficulties in their empirical implementation, in this study was estimated a cross-sectional model that considers a set of explanatory variables, which seek to establish a relationship of crime and corruption on economic growth for the department of Huila, Colombia.

Keywords : Crime; corruption; poverty and economic growth.
