On the history of Barranquilla could be written many books, the contrasts that are seen in its vertiginous development, make it an important point of admiration for the historians. Barranquilla has had an important participation in the exports and imports of Colombia and as a consequence has played a decisive role in the regional and national economy, in spite of adverse situations that it has had to overcome, as for example, internal wars, global conflicts and inadequate internal management, among others. In this article we will try to show how the development took place, what circumstances, companies and characters influenced the modernization of this city, always relying on historical documents backed by the bibliography, whose relationship is mentioned at the end of this writing, and that, without place to doubt, is part of the history of Barranquilla.
