Abstract

CUERDA, Amós  and  BONAVIA, Tomás. Organizational culture at University of Valencia's Psychology Faculty: An analysis. Pensam. gest. [online]. 2017, n.42, pp.232-257. ISSN 1657-6276.  https://doi.org/10.14482/pege.42.10475.

This article analyzes the organizational culture of the University of Valencia's School of Psychology. The Organizational Culture Inventory of Cooke and Lafferty has been used, which is a scale validated by the scientific literature. It measures three cultural styles: constructive, passive-defensive and aggressive-defensive. The instrument was applied to a sample of 363 undergraduate psychology students, obtaining low scores of the standard deviation index, which permits to draw conclusions at the aggregate level. In short, the culture perceived in this organization does not stand out especially for any particular cultural style, although it points slightly towards a constructive style. The negative implications that the lack of a strong cultural orientation can have for an organization whose ultimate purpose is the formation of university students are discussed.

Keywords : organizational psychology; organizational culture; public organization; psychometric analysis.
