The main objective of this study is to determine the characteristics, structure and operation of family businesses in the municipality of Durango. The study units are described according to sociodemographic criteria, life cycle stages, typology and generation stage, as well as Degree of current maturity of the family firms studied. The method is based on the variables extracted from a model consisting of three systems: family, work and property, called Three Circles and which was proposed by John Davis and Renato Tagiuri in 1980. This is a model that integrates three systems or subset (sub-variables) pillars in the existence of the family company, complementing with socio-demographic aspects, and the application of a tool called sign of maturity, to determine the life cycle of the companies studied.
