The aim of the study is to explore possible direct and indirect linkages of managerial and external variables that could affect the continuity of export activity in manufacturing and services in micro and SMEs. A qualitative design was used, the verbal data of 9 interviews were processed in NVIVO 10.0 software and evaluated under a thematic analysis. The results of the study highlight the role played by the experience and learning of micro and SMEs managers in the continuity of exports, which may affect other intermediate variables. It also recognizes the role of the commitment and involvement of micro and SMES managers as a possible aligner of other activities and processes that boost export activity.
