Abstract
DIAZ OLARIAGA, Oscar. Airport Management in the Post-Privatization Era. Pensam. gest. [online]. 2019, n.46, pp.284-310. ISSN 1657-6276. https://doi.org/10.14482/pege.46.6012.
In the late 1980s a process (worldwide) of airport privatization began. The privatization of the airports led to a new style of management. New airport operators began to focus on business, profitability and efficiency. The present review article describes the approach of the "new" airport management, considered in the current post-privatization era. At present, airports are immersed in a highly competitive environment influenced by the deregulation of the airline sector and where they are also competing (with other airports), abandoning the monopolistic situation that they enjoyed during decades. Thus, in this article the analysis focuses on those areas of the business that completely transformed airport management, such as airport business development, airport marketing, competition and competitive strategy.
