Abstract

BUSTAMANTE TEJADA, Walter Alonso. Masculinity and Homophobia. Control Over the Sexuality of Men in the Building of the Colombian State. Soc. Econ. [online]. 2013, n.24, pp.159-182. ISSN 1657-6357.

For two decades the Colombian Constitutional Court has undertaken the task of transforming a wide legal structure which supports the contemporary Colombian State, a heteronormative one and promoter of the hegemonic masculinity which is based on fear and homophobia from men, who have had to adapt to certain usages of their bodies and sexuality. The article intends to show evidence of that heteronormative interest and of the actions of 'the country's public life men,' who became supporters of that structure and therefore are promoters of discrimination. Its aim is to contribute to gender and diversity studies from a historical and human rights-based approach.

Keywords : Hegemonic Masculinity; Homophobia; Constitutional Court; Sexual Diversity; Gender Diversity.
