Resumen

AVENDANO ARIAS, Johan Andrés. Socio-spatial Representations (topo-representations) of Bogotá: Perspectives of (In)Security. Soc. Econ. [online]. 2017, n.33, pp.55-75. ISSN 1657-6357.  https://doi.org/10.25100/sye.v0i33.5624.

This article seeks to contribute to the comprehensive processes of construction of socio-spatial representations or topo-representations. For this, the city of Bogotá, Colombia is taken as a case study. The instrumental use given to certain type of cartographic tools is questioned because these tools are taken to use their communicative potentiality and have been constituted in devices of entrenchment of hegemonic interpretation systems. The analysis of the official maps on delinquency is resorted to, in contrast with the subjective spatializations -mental maps- elaborated by residents of Bogotá. In this way it is possible to delimit some types of topo-representations of (in) security (valuations and meanings), and their impacts in the way of taking the spatial experience, as well as to construct the same relation with the city. Latin American cities -in a melting pot of imaginaries from different latitudes- have recently been classified as dangerous and insecure cities; these spatial representations have favored the search for simplistic causal relationships and deterministic by preference.

Palabras clave : security; representation; mental maps; geography; city.
