Resumen

MORA SALAS, Minor  y  URBINA CORTES, Gustavo A.. Active citizenship and the transition to adulthood in Mexico: the imprint of social origin and the unequal participation of young people. Soc. Econ. [online]. 2017, n.33, pp.175-204. ISSN 1657-6357.  https://doi.org/10.25100/sye.v0i33.5629.

In this article the association between vital and political processes is analyzed, through a general balance of the bibliographic treatment of civic commitment and the transition to adulthood. Through statistical and sociodemographic analysis techniques, the conformation of a temporal dependency pattern is exemplified, where unequal opportunities of civic involvement derive from the possession of certain socioeconomic attributes. The socio-political background of the family, the precedence of associative experiences during childhood are also exemplified; as well as specific events and circumstances that take place during the period that runs from the childhood of the subjects until the moment they acquire the age of majority.

Palabras clave : young people; transition to adulthood; political participation; citizenship; social inequalities.
