Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to reflect and analyze the experience of intercultural mediation in the health field in the city of Valencia, Spain, with migrants users from Latin American countries. The main health problems of the migrant population recorded in the primary health care centers are concentrated in the areas of sexual and reproductive health, there is a high frequency of "single mothers", an increased voluntary interruptions of pregnancies (IVE for its acronym in spanish), a difficult usage and low contraceptive acceptance by both women and men, and finally, an identification of asymmetrical relations in couples. These circumstances are analyzed from a gender perspective to have a better approach to social reality.
