GARCIA-ROA, Erika Madeline  e  TAPIAS-TORRADO, Liliana. Discrimination and exclusion of women working in the health sector in Colombia. Employment, an unfinished agenda to advance in gender equity in health. Rev. Gerenc. Polit. Salud [online]. 2013, vol.12, n.24, pp.226-248. ISSN 1657-7027.

This research analyzes the structure of employment in the colombian health sector, problema-tized from a gender perspective. We consider two categories of analysis: discrimination and exclusion, which are estimated using information from the large integrated household survey, conducted by DANE in 2008, and qualitative information. Results indicate that in the health sector there is discrimination against women in remuneration and access to power. They also reveal a low quality labor activity that hinders social inclusion, dignity and freedom of working women who are affected disproportionately. This situation allows to infer that the current model of human resource management in the area limits equity in health. Also, given the importance of this sector for women's employment in the country, the situation expresses the laconic effort of the Colombian state aimed at eliminating all forms of discriminations and to ensure equitable outcomes for both sexes.
