Abstract

RIANO-CASALLAS, Martha Isabel  and  PALENCIA-SANCHEZ, Francisco. The Economic Dimension of Occupational Safety and Health: A Literature Review. Rev. Gerenc. Polit. Salud [online]. 2016, vol.15, n.30, pp.24-37. ISSN 1657-7027.  https://doi.org/10.11144/Javeriana.rgyps15-30.dess.

Occupational safety and health have been traditionally approached from different disciplines; however the health sciences approach has always prevailed. This is the reason why the purpose of this review is to establish what is the contribution and approach from economics to the occupational safety and health field. To this end, we carried out a systematic literature review on databases such as Econlit, jstor, PubMed, isi, and Scopus. To analyze the information we created content cards and a summary matrix, both of which were compared to economic evaluations of occupational safety and health interventions; occupational health management systems; the relationship between health and productivity; and accident costs and occupational illness.

Keywords : occupational health; occupational risks; economics; health economics; occupational diseases; occupational accidents (MesH).
