Abstract

GELACIO PANESSO, Juan David; MARTINEZ HINCAPIE, Hernán Darío  and  WOLF AMAYA, Gilda María. The City as a Neoliberal Urban Space: Approaches to the Planning of the Territory in the City of Medellin. Ágora U.S.B. [online]. 2019, vol.19, n.2, pp.521-536. ISSN 1657-8031.  https://doi.org/10.21500/16578031.4390.

There are tensions between conceptions, which assume space as an object devoid of significance and the approaches, which assume it as a determining element of the political subjectivity of the inhabitants of a territory. The contemporary neoliberal scenario presupposes the first of those conceptions about space with special connotations related to the layout of the city as a large real estate market, which guides urban planning. The Medellin case is a pretext for describing and reflecting how neoliberal urbanism operates.

Keywords : Urban Planning; Neoliberalism; Space; Territory; and Medellin.
