Abstract

AVILA-ROJAS, Odín. Power and Sanitocracy in Latin America. Political Reconfiguration in the Pandemic of 2020. Ágora U.S.B. [online]. 2021, vol.21, n.2, pp.610-628.  Epub June 16, 2022. ISSN 1657-8031.  https://doi.org/10.21500/16578031.5878.

The concept of sanitocracy aims to explain the configuration of power relations during the Covid-19 pandemic on a global scale and its impact on Latin America. Its research has as its starting point the interdisciplinary discussion between theory and political science and philosophy on the reproduction of power in Latin America under conditions of state of exception, biological threat, and reorganization of the colonial capitalist world system. The methodological proposal is based on documentary analysis and a theoretical review, which allowed a conceptual reconstruction as an angle of view to understand a phenomenon, which marked the power relations on the planet.
