This article analyzes some effects and reconfigurations in the processes and practices of the cultural sector as a result of violence derived from the territorial pacification project, which affected the Urabá region of An tioquia in the last decade of the 20th century. Based on the identification of four functions performed by the cultural sector during this period of intensification of the armed conflict, and the analysis of the articulation between the concept of territorial peace and Cultural Management. The article concludes that knowledge and practices of the cultural sector represent a viable and more effective alternative for the territorial con struction of peace, in comparison with the territorial pacification project focused on order and security, which was attempted to be imposed in Urabá. Based on this analysis, the text ends with some recommendations for further research.
