Abstract

PUYANA VALDIVIESO, José Ricardo. Legislative control of bureaucracy: a state of the art review. Civilizar [online]. 2008, vol.8, n.14, pp.63-84. ISSN 1657-8953.

This article carries out a brief analysis on the different academic proposals about the executive-legislative relations in Latin-America, with especial attention to the role that the congress plays as an institution in charge of controlling the administration. Furthermore, the author highlights important contributions -both theoretical and empirical- on the cases of the United States and Germany, with the objective of building on the concept of political oversight and to demonstrate that, in some cases, the influence of the Congress on the administration is plausible.

Keywords : Congress; administration; political oversight.
