ORDAZ, Nayely; LOPEZ-ESPINOZA, Antonio y MARTINEZ, Héctor. Effects of modify the context on the consumption of water and food during a state of satiety in rats. Univ. Psychol. [online]. 2005, vol.4, n.2, pp.151-160. ISSN 1657-9267.
Six rats were exposed to three alimentary contexts, the first one, considered as habitual context, provided food only for a period of time. The second contained in the surface a cover of stones and allowed free access to the food until the subject achieved the satiety state. The third context (novel) contained water in the surface and provided food during the test phase. The food consumption was compared between the habitual context and the novel one after the subject achieved the satiety state. The results show that in spite of the satiety the subjects consumed food in the novel context, but they didn’t consume food in the habitual context. These results are discussed in terms of how the context influences the feeding behavior.
