Abstract

HENAO ESCOBAR, Juanita. The early violence prevention: revision of programs and intervention modalities. Univ. Psychol. [online]. 2005, vol.4, n.2, pp.161-177. ISSN 1657-9267.

The article presents a review of different kinds of international early violence prevention-intervention programs, which have shown effectiveness in the reduction of preschooler’s aggression, and in some cases, in the prevention of violent behavior during adolescence and youth. The central matter of this article is what we can learn from the experiences on this field of knowledge around the world. First, the target intervention problem is presented and framed in the Colombian context. After presenting the main research findings about aggressive behavior in children and the risk factors associated with it, the related intervention modalities will be analyzed and described. Finally, the article derives some pragmatic conclusions and recommendations.

Keywords : Aggression; violence; risk factors; prevention; early childhood.
