Abstract

PARDO, Carlos F. Emergency exit: social reflections upon transport policies. Univ. Psychol. [online]. 2005, vol.4, n.3, pp.271-284. ISSN 1657-9267.

The article is based on sustainable transport policy of the 21st century while describing the various factors that define them, the cities conditions in terms of their morphology, available transport modes and citizens’ movement as main components of these policies. Sustainable development is described as its application to transport and citizens’ mobility. Also, basic reflections about the future of mobility in cities of developing countries are discussed, while questioning what this might imply for citizens in psychological terms. The possibility of applying this knowledge in mobility and transport is also outlined as an emerging field of work.

Keywords : Mobility; transport policy; mobility psychology; sustainable transport.
