DE FREITAS ARAUJO, Saulo  e  RIBEIRO PEREIRA, Thiago Constâncio. The Idea of Rational Psychology in Christian Wolff's German Metaphysics (1720). Univ. Psychol. [online]. 2014, vol.13, n.spe5, pp.1655-1666. ISSN 1657-9267.  https://doi.org/10.11144/Javeriana.upsy13-5.lipr.

Christian Wolff (1679-1754) was a central figure in the European Enlightenment in the 18th century. At the same time, he played a special role in the historical development of psychology, since he gave it a new meaning. However, the historiography of psychology has not given him his due recognition. The aim of this paper is to offer a theoretical-conceptual analysis of his rational psychology in his German Metaphysics (1720) and to show its importance to subsequent psychological debates. Thus, we hope to contribute to the divulgation of an important aspect of the historical development of psychology.

Palavras-chave : Christian Wolff; rational psychology; history of psychology.
