Abstract

PENUELA, Oscar Andrés. Hemoglobin: a model molecule for research. Colomb. Med. [online]. 2005, vol.36, n.3, pp.215-225. ISSN 1657-9534.

This paper has the objective to review hemoglobin, one of the most studied and characterized proteins. Hemoglobin is a very important protein in biology. Although the first papers were written in 19th century, today a lot of amazing discoveries are shown, like new globins neuroglobin and cytoglobin and, nitric oxide interactions. In addition, hemoglobinopathies are a medicine’s challenge for applying basic research to the patient’s attendance.
