This article reports the discovery during an inguinal herniorraphy in a four years old patient of a Meckel’s diverticulum (this entity depends on the vitelin duct persistence, also known as the omphalomesenteric duct). It mentions the procedure followed, and updates historical, embryological, medical and pathological data related to Meckel’s diverticulum. The national bibliographical research is negative about this item; the international one specifically in the institutes of the hernia lists this type of findings as simple curiosities being always mentioned in the classifications.
