AGUILLON-OSMA, Johanny; BEDOYA-BLANDON, Ángela María; LOANGO-CHAMORRO, Nelsy  e  LANDAZURI, Patricia. ESTRADIOL LEVELS IN CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADOLESCENTS AND ITS RELATION WITH GENDER, AGE, BLOOD PRESSURE, PLASMATIC LIPIDS AND POLYMORPHISM XbaI OF ESTROGENS RECEPTOR. Biosalud [online]. 2018, vol.17, n.1, pp.19-30. ISSN 1657-9550.  https://doi.org/10.17151/biosa.2018.17.1.3.

Introduction:

The identification of risk factors for cardiovascular diseases (CVD), can help to prevent their development. The steroid hormones, through their receptors and genetic variations, influence the lipids metabolism and blood pressure among other functions.

Methods:

a descriptive study carried out with children and adolescents between 8 and 18 years old.

Objective:

To determine levels of estradiol and its relationship with gender, age, blood pressure, plasmatic lipids and polymorphism XbaI of the estrogens receptor.

Results:

No statistical relationship between polymorphism XbaI and concentrations of estradiol was found, but it was found between polymorphism and lipid profile and, in the same way, between the concentrations of the hormone and triglycerides and VLDL-c.

Conclusion:

This work shows a relationship between estrogen levels, age, blood pressure and plasma lipids as well as it shows a relationship between XbaI polymorphism of ESR1 and lipid levels.
