Abstract

MENDOZA LAVERDE, Camilo. The Loss of the Modern Tradition in Colombian Architecture: Bogotá and the Boyacá, Cundinamarca, Huila and Tolima Provinces. Apuntes [online]. 2008, vol.21, n.2, pp.180-193. ISSN 1657-9763.

The heritage of modern architecture in Colombia is continuously being modified and destructed. The interventions and affectations, such as demolitions and transformations, of a selection of important buildings, urban ensembles and neighborhoods dating from the 1930s to the 1960s in Bogotá and four of its neighboring provinces were registered and described. Through two research projects the proportions of the loss of buildings and -worse- the loss of the modern traditions were partially illustrated, although some well-conserved designs were found also.

Keywords : Modern Architecture; Modern Architectural Heritage; Modern Architecture in Colombia; Conservations of Colombian Built Heritage; 20th Century Architecture in Colombia.
