Abstract

This article shows the results of study and analysis which authors are carrying out in the research line CIBER, proposed as a project in the Latin America Program of Science and Technology for Development (2009). Local news becomes a product of the Internet, and now as a blog and a chance to find a place in social networks. The trends are still growing. First, it was one of the most important American media, The New York Times, announcing that the local news would be published in your paper to switch to publishing on its website. Currently, as a result of the economic crisis, both local newspapers and media corporations are experiencing reduction of employment and closing and elimination of printed media. People are beginning to be informed about local news through other communication media such as blogs and social networks, which content creators are, in most cases, residents of a district, neighborhood or community. that often results in the reduction of jobs and at worst the closed and consequent disappearance of the print medium, people are beginning to learn -- on the local news through other communication channels such as blogs and social networks with content creators and are in many cases, Based on these emerging models of information, new professional profiles demanding a kind of knowledge; consequently, universities should change their training plans. Information agents (media, professionals, and universities) should learn from Darwinian theory: ''Neither the strongest species nor the most intelligent ones survive, but those who better adjust to changes.''
