This articles shows the results of a research called ''Living under Democracy: Liberty of Expression in B. Spinoza's Work,'' conducted for the Research Program about Communication and Citizenship, directed by Professor María Cristina Mata from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba Advanced Studies Center. This is an approach to Spinoza's work, focusing on the importance he bestows to the ''liberty of expression'' idea. A big deal of this philosopher's writings is an argument display defending democratic regime - even more, democratic way of life- understood by the author as the best regime among all possibilities, the most natural, and the one which approaches the most to the State's ultimate goal. This considered, Spinoza's defense of Liberty of Expression is actually a defense of Democracy. Linked to the above mentioned, and according to this author, Liberty of Expression (which defense cannot be separated from defense or reason) is Democracy's possibility condition, since only through liberty of expression decision rationality can be guaranteed and, consequently, the continued growth of democratic system efficiency.
