This essay is part of a bigger research that the authors are working on, about the comic Mexican cinema of Cantinflas. This research project has the following hypothesis: a) in a general sense, humor constitutes a discourse of big cultural vitality witch mobilizes determined symbolic universes placing social imaginaries on scene: b) punctually, Cantinflas' cinema - Mario Moreno Reyes's creation- shows a narrow relation with its own context. In this essay we will analyze the film ''Un día con el Diablo'', in which this is revealed like the base of symbolic universes linked to the imperialist policy of the United Estates and to the Mexico position during the Second World War. To carry out this research, we will use semiotics because the cinema constitutes a textual construction and, consequently, a discourse construction. In this line, we will advance in a textual analysis, witch recover a material and a historical horizon where sense generation processes are determined, controlled, and selected by the message producer.
