Abstract

PAZ GARCIA, A. Pamela  and  BRUSSINO, Silvina. Ideological Profile of Political Information Media Consumption in Córdoba, Argentina. anagramas rumbos sentidos comun. [online]. 2014, vol.12, n.24, pp.95-118. ISSN 1692-2522.

Recovering the role of ideology as a key element of political culture and taking into consideration the role of mass communication media as ideological agents and references, this article is a summary of partial results of a major research about the psychological, social, and political conditions involved when structuring daily life political information consumption practice. First, ideological selectivity conditions of audiences are discussed, understanding political information media consumption as a sociocultural practice. Second, local market context in Córdoba, Argentina is described and theoretical and technical grounds of the Latent Class Analysis are informed in the methodological field as a probabilistic method particularly used for modeling complex behaviors. By applying this procedure to the data of a semi-structured population survey performed in 2010 over a sample of 396 locals of Córdoba City, profiles transversal to the information consumption in television, newspapers, and radio are identified without recognizing the specificity with which locals' preferences are inserted within each media format.

Keywords : Media consumption; political information; ideological selectivity; latent class analysis; political ideology; mass communication media.
