Abstract

LONDONO JARAMILLO, Mabel. Rights of same-sex couples. A study based on the Colombian Constitutional Court Jurisprudence. Opin. jurid. [online]. 2012, vol.11, n.22, pp.45-64. ISSN 1692-2530.

Jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court has allowed to advance in recognition of rights for homosexuals in Colombia, since the Constitutional Court has made some decisions to the benefit of this traditionally unprotected group not only from an individual or collective minority point of view but also from a point of view of couples protected by the Colombian Political Constitution, as a valid life project. This has clearly shown the lack of legal regulations for their rights in relation to those of heterosexual people; this has resulted in a clear poor protection of them for many years. This article covers several sentences pronounced between 1994 and 2012, intended to make readers realize the slow and progressive evolution of the line of though of this Corporation.

Keywords : Colombia Constitutional Court; jurisprudence; homosexuals; same-sex couples; rights; poor protection.
