This article makes a revision of the reality of operation and structuring of substantive function of research from legal research groups in some states of the Andean region between 2008 and 2011, displayed on COLCIENCIAS ScienTi platform. For this purpose, changes of the number of groups and researchers during the above named period are tackled, as well as the emergence of research groups, number of projects and products, amount of members en each group, and time spent with those groups, which allows determining tendencies and changes of topics in both States and Regions, components of the groups, and categorization of the same before the State.
