JARAMILLO-MARIN, Ruby Stella and CRUZ-PALOMO, Diego Fernando. Insufficient Measures Taken for the Population Deprived of Liberty in Colombia on the Occasion of the Coronavirus Pandemic. Opin. jurid. [online]. 2020, vol.19, n.spe40, pp.151-161. Epub Sep 18, 2021. ISSN 1692-2530. https://doi.org/10.22395/ojum.v19n40a7.
Through this investigative article, the measures adopted in Colombia with the advent of the SARS-Cov-2 Coronavirus pandemic are analyzed. Measures adopted with Decree 546 of April 14th, 2020 are compared with the National Constitution and recommendations of international organizations regarding the human rights of prison population. A descriptive quantitative method is used. Based on documents issued by different national and international organizations, the problem of the prison population is addressed as well as measures adopted by the National Government are compared. As a result, effectively through the measures adopted to contain the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the human rights of the prison population are being violated and ignored. Finally, we propose effective measures for the prison population in order to contain the outbreak of the disease without ignoring the constitutional guarantees of this population.
