The structural characteristics of a natural forest are very important to understand its dynamics and especially to define its structure and composition, which will design a management plan based on the results obtained. The study area is located in the northeastern sector of the city of Popayán is very important to study because of its proximity to the city and therefore the pressure that bears the influence of visitors. This study allows defining the major characteristics of the horizontal structure of a natural forest, identifying species that are part of the same characteristics and abundance, dominance, Frequency and Importance Value Index and the ratio of mixture, allowing the definition ecological importance and degree of heterogeneity of the ecosystem.
