Resumen

MONTANO, MARY CECILIA; SANTAFE, GILMAR GABRIEL; ANGULO, ALBERTO  y  TORRES, OMAR. CHEMICAL STUDY OF THE ESTEROLIC FRACTIONS OF MARINE SPONGES COLLECTED IN THE CARIBBEAN COLOMBIAN. Rev.Bio.Agro [online]. 2009, vol.7, n.2, pp.55-62. ISSN 1692-3561.

Sterolic fractions were obtained from the marine sponges Amorphinopsis atlantica, Lissodendoryx carolinensis, Mycale microsigmatosa, Tedania ignis and Niphates erecta from the Colombian Caribbean coast. These were analyzed in high resolution gas chromatography connected to the mass spectrometry. 51 sterols were identified (12 in the A. atlantica, 9 in the L. carolinensis, 13 in the M. microsigmatosa, 7 in the T. ignis y 10 in the N. erecta), being the sterols mith nucleus Δ5 the ones that predominate (60.78% in abindance), followed by sterols with nucleus Δ7 (21.57%) and finally the sterols with nucleus Δ0 (17.64%). The lateral chains of these compounds varied between 7 and 11 carbon atoms some of them saturated and others unsaturated in the carbons C-22 and C-24(28). 16 different lateral chains were shown for the 51 compounds: 6 with 10 carbon atoms , 4 with 8 carbon atoms, 4 with 9 carbon atoms , 1 with 7 carbon atoms and 1 with 11 carbon, six of these proposed lateral chains showed instauration in the carbon 22 and four of these lateral chains presented instauration among the carbons 24-28. The compound 5α-cholestan-3β-ol for the A. atlantica sponge was the majority compound in the sterolic fraction with an abundance of 48.36%, the compound 5α-Colestan-3β-ol (Colesterol) was the majority compound in the fractions of the sponges L. carolinenis, M. microsigmatosa, T. ignis and N. erecta, with an abundance each one of 66.81%, 49.92%, 33.19% and 23.64%, respectively.

Palabras clave : Marine sponges; sterols; caribbean colombian.
