ACOSTA M, JULIÁN et al. EFFECT OF ORGANIC FERTILIZER FROM FIQUE SUBPRODUCTS IN CORN PRODUCTION. Rev.Bio.Agro [online]. 2013, vol.11, n.1, pp.94-102. ISSN 1692-3561.
Six treatments of organic fertilizers made with fique’s (Furcraea gigantea Vent.) processing by products were evaluated as an option to supply the nutritional requirements in corn plant´s (Zea mays L.), in the municipality of Guaitarilla (Nariño, Colombia). To made the organic fertilizers, the Bocashi modified method was used, where three carbon:nitrogen relationship (10:1, 20:1 and 30:1) and two different decomposing microorganisms (effective microorganisms (EM) and commercial yeast) were evaluated. Each treatment was evaluated on the field using a completely randomized block design with factorial arrangement, where factor A was the different organic fertilizers (Ta-Tf) and factor B was the fertilization dosage: 3, 6, and 9 t/ha. Further a chemical fertilizer treatment (Tq) was used as a reference and a no fertilized plot (To). The response variables studied were the plant height (AP), the plant productivity (RTO), the number of grains per ear (GM) and the weight of one hundred grains (PC). The best treatment was Tb (20:1 + EM), which exceeded significantly (P<0.05) the chemical fertilizer in the variables: AP, RTO and PC; it was concluded that is possible use the organic fertilizer obtained from fique’s byproducts as an option to chemical fertilization in corn plants production
