At the University Wetland, located to the north-east of the town of Popayan 0.3 to 2 ° 28'17'' North and 76° 33 '00'' West, were made a biological and socioeconomic characterization to determine the baseline of the ecosystem and generate guidelines for the management, protection and ecological restoration. Regarding the floristic characterization were a total of 410 individuals, distributed in 43 families, 36 genera and 23 species, for shrub stratum the most representative species were Rubusurticifolius(Rosaceae), Psidiumguineense (Myrtaceae) and Tibouchinaciliaris(Melastomataceae) and for arboreal stratum Myrciapopayanensis (Myrtaceae), Alchornealatifolia (Euphorbiaceae) and Palicoureathyrsiflora (Melastomataceae).
