Abstract

DIAZGRANADOS D., CRISTINA; SANDOVAL, ANA MARÍA  and  CHAPARRO-GIRALDO, ALEJANDRO. DESIGNOFACRY1Ac SEMISYNTHETIC GENEANDSTRUCTURE ANALYSIS OF TRANSLATED PROTEIN. Rev.Bio.Agro [online]. 2013, vol.11, n.spe, pp.155-164. ISSN 1692-3561.

Theworld's population isexceeding6 billionpeople and it'snecessary inthecomingyearsto increasefood productionby50%.Amongthe limiting factors toagricultural productionareinsect pests. It isestimatedthatlosses causedbydifferentpestsare rangingbetween20% and 40%. Among thestrategiesthat have been implementedto handlethis problemistheuseof transgenic plants resistantto insects, using genes derivedfromBacillusthuringiensis(Bt).Most of thesegenesareprotectedby patents andtherefore accessis restricted. It isnecessary tofind newwaysand tools toenableaccess tothesegenes, for the solution of agricultural problems. It was designedand builtthroughbioinformaticspackages, a semi synthetic versionof thecry1Acgene, codonoptimizedfortheuseofrice(Oryzasativa), andwasperformedinsilicoanalysisof the characteristics ofthe translated protein.
