Abstract

PANTOJA-MATTA, ALVARO JAVIER; CUATIN-INGUILAN, MILTON FERNANDO  and  MUNOZ-MUNOZ, DEYANIRA. EFFECT OF PRETREATMENT CHEMICAL AND ENZYMATIC ON DESLIGNIFICATION OF TYPICAL AGROINDUSTRIAL BIOMASS OF DEPARTMENT CAUCA. Rev.Bio.Agro [online]. 2015, vol.13, n.1, pp.45-53. ISSN 1692-3561.

Delignification of lignocellulosic biomass is an essential step towards obtaining monosaccharides from macromolecules such as cellulose and hemicellulose. Different physical, chemical and biological processes have been employed to alter and modify the array of different plant materials, by the presence of lignin, one of the most recalcitrant components in its structure. In this research, lignocellulosic biomass sugarcane bagasse (M1), sisal dust (M2) and cassava bran (M3) and the mixture of equal proportions of the three materials (M4) was characterized. Chemical pretreatment was performed biomass using sodium bisulfite commercial 4% w/w laccase enzyme pretreatment with 1% w/w. The first reduced as much lignin, generating 32.26% in delignification of M1 and M2 62.72%, while the enzyme pretreatment resulted in 67.91% of the mixture M4 delignification. In all residues delignification range 19.46% to 67.91% of cellulose was an increase in the range of 25.57% to 200.12%. The investigation concluded that the chemical pretreatment resulted in increased delignification while the enzymatic pretreatment, greatest increase in cellulose.
