Abstract
ALFARO-MARTINEZ, ARLENIS et al. ASSESSMENT OF SARTOBRAN ® P FILTRATION CARTRIDGES IN GAVAC ® VACCINE PRODUCTION. Rev.Bio.Agro [online]. 2019, vol.17, n.2, pp.53-65. ISSN 1692-3561. https://doi.org/10.18684/bsaa.v17n2.1253.
Filtration of liquids trough 0,2 μm diameter filters is a common method of removing microorganisms and unwanted particles contained in heat-sensitive solutions to obtain a sterile filtrate. At the present work the evaluation of the use of Sartobran® P filtration cartridges both in the purification and in sterile filtration stages of the production process of Gavac® vaccine was carried out. The use of Sartobran® P filtration cartridges allowed to obtain total economic savings of $ 121.267 per batch due to the reduction of electricity and filtration material consumption in the filtration sub-stages considered, and of $ 129,5/batch because of product not spilled during the sterile filtration stage. The introduction of Sartobran® P filtration cartridges allow to exclude the primary filtration sub-stage from the sterile filtration step, without affecting the main quality indicators of the filtered product obtained. It is deduced from the techno-economic point of view that is feasible to employ Sartobran® P filtration cartridges both in the non-sterile sub-stage of the purification stage, and in the primary and sterilizing sub-stages of the sterile filtration stage.
