This article was born in the research "Caracterización de la violencia urbana en Barranquilla. Desde la construcción noticiosa en la prensa popular. Caso del periódico Al Día". The objective is to analyze how the victim is constructed in the daily Al Día and methodology is content analysis. The results show the actor victim as a focus of interest in the news, male gender, between 20 and 29 years, who is murdered and whose occupation is not recorded, a story based on conjecture and violence located in southern the city, but scattered on its territory. It concludes with the need to deepen the studies to understand society, where violence and its connection with the media occurs.
