Abstract

SEVERINO GONZALEZ, Pedro; MEDINA GIACOMOZZI, Álex  and  PUJOL COLS, Lucas. Social responsibility in schools of primary education in Chile: tensions and challenges. Encuentros [online]. 2018, vol.16, n.2, pp.11-22. ISSN 1692-5858.  https://doi.org/10.15665/encuent.v16i02.974.

Internal and external pressures to incorporate values that reflect social responsibility into organizations’ decision-making processes have increased over the last few decades. The relevance of social responsibility is even greater in education institutions as they are vital for the development of human beings, communities, and nations. Thus, this study aims to analyze the perception that principals, teachers, and members of the administrative staff of three primary schools located in the region of Ñuble, Chile, have about their institution’s practices regarding social responsibility. A quantitative research design and a self-report questionnaire are used in this study. Results reveal that there seems to be a gap between the perceptions of principals and those of teachers and members of the administrative staff.
