Abstract
MAGALLANES UDOVICICH, Mariana Loreta. Keep on working. The technical rationality of mobile hyper-availability for contemporary professional work from analysis of ‘peers socio-technical’. Encuentros [online]. 2018, vol.16, n.2, pp.47-61. ISSN 1692-5858. https://doi.org/10.15665/encuent.v16i02.1054.
The results of a doctoral research on knowledge processes in professional virtual interactions are recovered, which cross the vision of the communication with the contributions in Science and Technology Studies. Based on connective virtual ethnography, we present the analytical category of socio-technical peers and show the site of the mobile phone, in particular smartphones, on the seamless web. In this context, we propose a reflection on the technical rationality underlying the mobility and portability of these devices, which blur the boundaries between work and leisure in contemporary societies, transforming the desired availability into human hyper-availability with important consequences for life of professionals.
