TRILLOS PACHECO, Juan José e SOTO MOLINA, Jairo. The power of the massive traditional means and the digital platforms in the political activism. Encuentros [online]. 2018, vol.16, n.2, pp.62-78. ISSN 1692-5858. https://doi.org/10.15665/encuent.v16i02.1440.
The research analyzes political activism and public opinion on the digital platforms Facebook and Twitter and traditional media in the context of the Colombian-Venezuelan crisis due to the closure of the border and the Santos-Timochenko meeting in Havana. To this end, an observation blog was designed that was applied for four consecutive days to the twitter accounts of 36 political leaders and the most important media in Colombia. Parallel to this, the 10 political groups that Facebook registered the largest number of members were analyzed. Among the findings is that activists in social networks do not act on their own. These are manipulated by opinion leaders through the traditional media that constitute with social networks a mediating circuit for power relations and social transformations.
