This paper analyses the role that the family should play in the construction of citizenship through the experience of socialization in childhood. The socialization process in this scenario will enable the consolidation of the foundations leading to the development of the individual as an actor in the exercise of citizenship. This article aims at confronting the family-citizenship dualism, at remodeling and reinforcing the role of the family in the construction of citizenship, and to make visible what connections exist between family and citizenship.
